Friday/Sarurday/Suday they all have their benefits. However Friday has one disadvantage that is massive, that being away travel for supporters over the M62 .

True.

If only the fixture planners/TV schedulers took this into account.

The Thursday night games should never have been anything other than all-East or all-West (avoiding near Derbys as you need those in peak slots for income).

Someone on Twitter has just reminded us of this. From 4,000 to 8,500 in just 3 years. I don't share that to brag, but so show what is genuinely possible for clubs to achieve with good decisions, investment and hard work. Wakefield are on the same journey I think, and even clubs with bigger followings than Rovers and Wakey today still have headroom to grow. There's still huge upside potential in our sport.

Yeah right 😂 And why not anyway? There's a lot to be proud of for Hull KR fans and their growth has been fantastic to see

Nah honest, if surprised me, I thought maybe 6,000 to here in that time. Thought it was a really striking change, there’s a lot of pessimism around the sport and I think sometimes it’s misplaced. We’ve not won anything in that time, in fact our average attendance hasn’t doubled either so what it does show is that you can lock “casuals” into a long term commitment if you treat them right.

In terms of the big factor behind it I really think our move to a monthly membership fee, on direct debit, rather than annual season tickets was a big driver of the shift of people over to memberships. Guess most clubs do that sort of thing now though?

True to a point, but if you hadn’t done so well on the pitch it wouldn’t be at 8000. Added to that you have a genuine star in Mikey Lewis.

With the best will in the world that’s not a given for every team regardless of how well run they are.

As a rule of thumb there is generally always one top team, a couple of challengers and a booster every season. That means tha the other  eight teams will vary from having a mediocre to dreadful season. Not a state of affairs you can build on in some cases.

This happens even in the NRL, but due to the shear presence of the sport it’s not quite such an issue.

Maybe we would, maybe we wouldn't. But if you can deliver 112% growth in a period where you still don't win anything, I think that others can aim for 50% growth or more if they do the right things off the pitch, consistently. Especially from such a low base. All the sports marketing research shows that what customers want is competitiveness on the pitch, not always victories, and as long as that is in place then you can pull other levers and increase audience. It's only when you lose far more than you win, or regularly "lose before half time", that growing audience is like pushing water uphill.

It can be done!

That's really good, especially the 750 new memberships.

The take up of Gold plus was excellent imo, hopefully we can hit 1000 in this category - for those outside Leigh this membership is £480 pa and includes £120 ringfenced for the Academy. Never dreamt 7000 season tickets would be within range and the away stand being possibly the only section on general sale excluding the BIG games with the local clubs who can fill it

Have they/are they planning on removing the stage that was installed and reduced capacity?

The stage is still blocked off on season ticket sales so will still be there this season. I don’t think it will be a consideration until we’re selling out more than just 1 or 2 times a season.

Having the stage in actually reduces the capacity counted on IMG consideration so actually boosts the utilisation score in the short term in addition to improving the user experience on game days so it’s a no brainer to keep at least one more year.

I doubt it. As good as membership sales have been, we’ve still only broke 10k and had a genuine sellout for two Wigan games in the last two seasons. So, likely makes more financial sense to keep the stage and put bands on the try to get people into the ground earlier than they otherwise would.

What will the capacity be at Trinity?

I think it’s about 8200-8500 at the moment. This may add another few hundred (but it will obviously be much better for those standing there on a new surface).

I think there are 2/3 other upgrades in with planning to upgrade other parts of the stadium. Some may see an increase by 500-1000 I think on what’s been mentioned.

Think Matt Ellis said he was hoping to accommodate 9000 next season and make a decision on improvements for 2026 dependant on 2025 crowds.  I think we'll be lucky to achieve anywhere near 9k looking at the slow take up of season tickets

I think we’ll hit 4,500ish by the time the season begins and will maybe average an attendance around 6,200 over the length of the season. I believe the key will be how many capacity or close to capacity attendances we get for the bigger fixtures against the likes of Leeds, Castleford, HKR and Wigan. If we challenge the capacity a few times then Matt Ellis will likely look to improve the stadium even further for the 2026 season

Don’t think so, as we won’t sell out every week and like KR it’s better to have demand pushing supply until you can’t meet it most weeks 10500 is adequate but hope it isn’t so going forward when we can go up to 12500 ish

They might draw supporters in from outside of Leigh.

Nearer 46,000 DM, but still agree with you, has somebody said not to long ago evening games for cross pennine fans reduces the attendances, I have always said that if Leigh ever get 7000 home fans in attendance that is huge being over 15% of local populas, who apart from Cas gets anywhere near that?

I’ve supported Leigh for over 30 years and never once lived within the boundaries of Leigh. I live about 10 miles away and know of at least 2 other groups travelling from the same area as I’ve bumped into them in when nipping to the shop before setting off on match days this season(they and I were wearing Leigh shirts).

modern sports have evolved well beyond the postcode you live at these days.
