We should play France every year in France around Bastille day time

This... all day everyday this... the fact it isnt done is shortsighted IMHO...

With the passion of the French and a constant match every year in the middle of the season (we dont need to pull over the NRL players at the moment so dont and make the game a bit closer)... and this can become a more and more intense match (almost origin level)..

Play it wherever the french think it will work.. if we want to make it a 2 match series we can always then play them again in the uk around Trafalgar day

I haven't seen Miloudi play, but he must be pretty good to keep Escare out! I also think Springer and Navarette need to be strong contenders if they can get enough game time, and I am a big fan of Albert. I know he's been dropped by Catalans, but I still think he can develop into a top class halfback. It's good that France is building the kind of depth that means squad players at SL clubs aren't guaranteed selection.

Depending on your TV you could probably watch via a browser, but might not be that reliable. Just link your laptop to your TV.

Video content on the app never works for me, so will have to link the laptop to the TV.

Yet I see on the BBC Sport website that the BBC are showing Argentina v Barbarians this autumn. How can the BBC justify showing a friendly Union match not even involving any home nations but not an England Rugby League match?

* This is presuming that the RFL weren't stupid enough to turn down a BBC offer

Probably due to about 40k more people being at the event in a massive stadium played on a weekend with a good bit of publicity backing it up. Yep, RU is an establishment sport but we don’t help ourselves playing against France at a poor time in a tiny stadium with little publicity and basically using it as a trial match before the main event(s)... we get what we deserve sometimes.

Yeah I get that and don't disagree with the sentiment. However I still don't see why the BBC should use ratepayer money to show a friendly match between a made up team and a team that does not represent the home nations. I highly doubt something similar in Football, or any other sport for that matter, would be shown on the BBC. If England v France is a trial match then that certainly is no better.

Quite right. There is no justification for holding this game when and where they are doing. There are plenty of rugby specific grounds in much better locations that could have hosted it. Warrington is one that comes to mind. A bit bigger than leigh, right size for getting a full crowd for a game like this, in a good location just down the road from train station. Cas is another that comes to mind, might be a bit of an older ground in not as good location but it would get a bigger crowd than leigh and I always think there is a great atmosphere there when I have seen it on TV.

In terms of the time, I can only assume there must be a man u reserves game the weekend after cos if there isn't then why the hell aren't we having it on the Saturday? Do they not realise we would probably fill the ground on a weekend when people don't have to work and then make a mad scramble across the country to one of the most isolated towns in existence?? Besides which if it was at the two grounds I have mentioned then there wouldn't be a problem with clashing.

It clearly isn't anything to do with TV that it is when it is cos we aren't even putting it on TV. It is on an app that hardly anyone has and will probably be a rubbish stream which a lot of us will give up on after 15 minutes. Least its free right?? The key word there is free. No money is being made by streaming this, christ they could have sold the rights to the beeb for a quid and made more money even if it was only a stream on their website. More people would see it and it would probably be a better quality stream as well.

Idiots.

I think it just shows how bad we are at commercialising our product. I'm ok with having games set up for rugby reasons I.e. to warm up for the series, but other sports make a decent commercial fist of them too.

The idea of staging an England game and not having it live on tv just wouldn't be an option for other major sports.

I suppose it's not a high profile enough game for the BBC to be interested. Shame really because I just checked and there's no football of any note that night, which is very rare for a Wednesday during the football season.

England are playing away in Spain on the Monday, and there's several more nations cup games on the Tuesday (including France v Germany), but on the Wednesday there's nothing at all.

It would have been a cheeky little time to put the game on BBC, in the hope of picking up some viewers who will otherwise be missing their Wednesday sporting fix. Even more so when you think that the BBC will be showing the NZ series.

I'll be watching it on Our League, when it finally lets me re-register (which is isn't doing tonight). I was registered before but apparently a software change wiped my account. I'm sure I'll get back on in time for the match though. :)

England v France is the sort of game that should be taken to new areas to promote the game. Newcastle Thunder's ground would be a great shout as would somewhere like Bristol.

Until France start to beat us on a regular basis I think we should be traveling to them to give them the home advantage. I bet you would get as many people to a game in Perpignan or Toulouse as you would in Warrington or Leigh.

The way this match has been arranged shows up RL as a minor sport, not a major sport.
