This home kit embodies cutting-edge design, showcasing the iconic Leopards brand, stepping into the future in the third year as the Leopards. Really, as I have shown above it is a off the shelf standard print design, available in a womens online catalogue.

MattSantos Posted October 24 Posted October 24 I like that Leigh shirt. 1 Running the Rob Burrow marathon to raise money for the My Name'5 Doddie foundation: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/ben-dyas
DI Keith Fowler Posted October 24 Posted October 24 Err, I like the little Reebok detail on the collar. Otherwise it's a bit garish. It might look better with sponsors, one of the few examples of that being true as it will break up the print a bit. I think they could afford to tone it down and have the print just on the away shirt or as a more subtly incorporated detail. Most clubs with animal monikers don't choose to go this literal with animals skin as a design. 1 I was born to run a club like this. Number 1, I do not spook easily, and those who think I do, are wasting their time, with their surprise attacks.
phiggins Posted October 24 Posted October 24 12 hours ago, Chrispmartha said: Yes, I understand, so, get the shirt ready for the membership launch. Launching a new shirt is a great marketing opportunity, releasing a basic photoshop mockup without sponsorship on it is just amateurish. I think you're taking too much offence to this to be honest. The membership has a fixed date for launch, because of the nature of the direct debits. If there's still work to do to finalise sponsors, I'd much rather this, than try and rush through sponsorship, or not see designs before signing up to memberships, or not having the direct debit option. This is simply a plan B. And if the shirts and membership packs are all ready to collect for Christmas, then I personally have absolutely no issue with it. 1
daz39 Posted October 24 Posted October 24 I presume Derek and only Derek has the final say on Leigh's ridiculous kits as it's his toy and he likes Leopards so that's what he wants regardless.... It's awful but then again i aint a Leigh supporter who is happy to walk round in public covered in Leopardskin clothing. Crazily enough there is lot's of them, grown men and women who seem happy to do so and not just at home games with other like minded folk either. I’m not offended, well that design offends me, I just want to see more professional marketing from all the SL clubs. Clubs releasing photoshop mockups as a kit launch is a bug bear of mine as it’s a great marketing opportunity wasted.

In this era of social media you’re actually far more likely to get more eyeballs on a bad kit or bad launch than you are a well executed one with a decent kit, so I don’t agree that it’s some great marketing opportunity wasted. 1

Well, we’re just going to have to agree to disagree on this one, personally professionalism and decent output is better than people laughing at what you produce. The majority of comments on the twitter post (which is hardly doing great numbers) are people taking the mick. Anyway I’ve said my piece. 1

But we reportedly sold over 8000 shirts last year and ultimately that what matters, not to mention undergoing a huge expansion to the retail side to cope with the demand on the merchandise. I think the most bemusing part of this is that a lot of people(and I include good sections of Leigh fans in this) still seemed surprised by these kit reveals. We’ve had 7 kits prior to this year and barring the 2 with Jaguars on the rest have been full leopard print in a variety of colours.
LeeF Posted October 24 Posted October 24 Oxen, quite rightly, get some stick on this forum for their kits and designs but Planet Reebok have won hands down. Whether it’s a mock up or the real one without sponsors that is probably the worse kit I’ve seen for many years

Beaumont has absolutely no interest in appealing to anyone who isn't already fully on board with Leigh RLFC and the whole all-in Leopards branding. And, fair play, on those terms, it has all been, and appears to be continuing to be, a roaring success. There would be zero point in him, or Leigh Leopards, producing a tasteful kit of the kind that I would like. That's not how this iteration of Leigh RLFC works. 2 Build a man a fire, and he'll be warm for a day. Set a man on fire, and he'll be warm for the rest of his life. (Terry Pratchett)

Everyone on here knows how I back Mr B, but on this point of his kit selection - totally agree it's his call - that I draw the line of agreeing or backing him. He should be arrested by the 'fashion police' and locked away. His first effort with a jaguars backside was terrible, folk in town looked like they were walking about with sandwich boards advertising Chester Zoo, then he thought it a good idea to colour it in for our,Wembley Kit, to be fair this last season's effort was not that bad, and I thought we were now on the straight and narrow, only to find we have a relapse with this latest effort. I have still got my black polo shirt with the gold club leopard badge, that will do me for another season, but ho hang on now we are back to cherry and white I have the cherry and white hooped heritage shirt, that may make an appearance or two. 1

chisholm Posted October 24 Posted October 24 Got to admit, I thought the box park at Wembley atmosphere was superb with 3 - 80 year olds emblazoned in leopard skin . Couldn't see that many centurions turning up. Perhaps Shandy Bass !!!!!
phiggins Posted October 24 Posted October 24 Not too fussed by the Leigh kit. I won't be getting it myself, but what is tasteful to some people will be boring to others. I just wish they'd stuck with red and black, after the popularity of last year's kit, and the Summer Bash 2022 kit. I do like some of the over the top reactions. "Worst kit ever"
sweaty craiq Posted October 24 Posted October 24 10 hours ago, hunsletgreenandgold said: The whole leopard print thing when Leigh moved from Centurions to Leopards did actually work, to create enough talk about Leigh and their new name/branding. 2/3 years on and a very well performing SL club doesn't need gimmicks anymore - this was the perfect time to go back to a more traditional strip with the Leopards badge/logo being the brand indicator. Nope, we will continue to be left field and unique - it’s in the Leopard DNA 1

Why? I wouldn't go that route myself, but genuinely admire the club identity they've got going with the leopardskin branding.
