I think that due to the shortened timescales in which to organise the event that it will need to be a much reduced tournament and will be held where RL is popular NZ & Aus.

Hopefully RL has learnt from the French fiasco and will conduct thorough checks on all future bids

We have two 16 team tournaments so far and the tournament after 2000 didn't happen for 8 years and now the post 2022 tournament has been thrown into chaos. As laudable as 16 team tournament is, I question whether it is realistic for a sport of our size.

I'd anticipate a 10 team tournament, mainly in Australia, but with strategic games placed in New Zealand and PNG.

I'd like NZ to host independently in 2025 or 26 if need be

NZ has been shot down by some on here but I stand by my belief it could work. Napier hosted a NRL game with a strong attendance just last night. And with big Samoan and Tongan communities there games would draw good numbers and we can capitalise on their rise. I'd be willing to to accept a reduction in teams to help make it work no less than 12 though. Or would be happy with 16 but FIJI host a group.

If its a Australia/ NZ Co host situation though then I'd be very disappointed to see less than 16 teams, there is enough spread for it and it should go ahead in 2025 as everything is in place 🇳🇿🇦🇺

2025

NZ plus one game in every viable PN

8QF plus 1 each Europe, Americas, Africa, Repechage (Cook I)

Stadium wise FIJI is viable and I know Samoa has hosted a super rugby fixture so maybe potentially could host at least 1 game I just don't know about practicalities and logistics of it all but it would be massive for RL in those countries if they could pull it off

It really does surprise me that we haven't already had a thread on the world cup given everything that's gone on.

IMG will resolve any problems.

They are rubbish ic you plan to go over for WC, far too much travelling not to mention the cost.

Are all the people who are suggesting the venues in far flung places, actually based on their plans fo be there in the flesh, or hoping that the BBC will show each game again so they can watch it all at home on FTA broadcasts?

I'm going to put it out there. I think that there is every possibility that the 'next' world cup doesn't take place. I mean that's not to say that there will never be another RLWC but I think an extended break might be what eventually happens. I think that the international game is in such tatters that it might need rebuilding from the bottom up.

Oh! Is the World Cup part of their remit?

Could be. In the very near future.

Cheer up lads state of origin is on Wednesday night - that will wipe away your world cup tears or the NRL bubble would like that to be the case. Remember the lost w/end for Pacific nations during origin was another dagger for International Rugby League.

I fear the international game will fade away. I sincerely hope I'm wrong. The Aussies never seem to be up for it.

As we approach the 53rd anniversary of the last time they lost a series you can understand they probably get a bit bored by it all.
