Probably his level now tbh.

When he returned from i jury I thought he went well at Wire tbh, he seemed to regain some form. Of course he still has a tendency for a poor play or two each match, sometimes at key moments!

Oldham are going to walk the league, apparently.

Not sure who's saying that tbh.

We want to be competitive, the last time we got promoted we only won a couple of games and came straight back down.  I don't think aiming for the playoffs or pushing for a playoff spot is unrealistic.  Its a tough target for sure, but not unrealistic.

With the best, thats a good bit of PR, though I would say the Bedford team, theres, like, you know, 13 blokes who can get together at the weekend to have a game together, which doesnt point to expansion of the game. Point, yeah go on!

I am not sure who said but it will be very hard this season. A little bit of excitement maybe. The club have built a large squad and the main hope is survival and a bit of steady progression. We have done very good players ( to add to those we had last year who are still with us) and Longy has a tough job to gel this lot.

Keighley did what Oldham are doing a few years ago in signing some real quality when they were promoted, however it's a long season and when you're down 4/5 players it really shows at championship level. That's why teams like Batley and Sheffield manage to survive every year, they sign grafters who can tough it out in the trenches, they sign players that are made for the division.

I really hope Oldham do well, and get some decent gates because as a Hull KR fan, it was awful going there with 500 or so home fans. Oldham is a big place that continually produced quality rugby league players so I hope they go really well.

Actually Keighley didn’t do what Oldham are / have done. Oldham built a Championship side to play in League 1 and have now added quality players to supplement existing quality players. They have also signed a squad of 32 players. They have plenty of size and bulk to “tough it out” as you say. The players have already been in training 4 weeks so are going to be well prepared.

Keighley were unbeaten in league one as I recall.

But the standard of the other clubs was much poorer than last season to be honest. Oldham were dire season. To be fair to Keighley they were the stand out team that season but I don’t think they had strength in depth and they ran onto money problems quickly in the championship. I stand to be corrected but I think that was the case.

That's a matter of opinion. Swinton and Doncaster were arguably stronger then than any club other club than Oldham this year. Hunslet were of a similar standard yet won promotion this year. Crusaders were much stronger.

I think the key difference is that Keighley made significant changes to their squad, essentially starting again. However, Oldham recruited players they believed could play in the championship; hence the majority being signed on 2 year deals. This season, they’ve kept the vast majority (promoting squad cohesiveness) and simply added a few additional quality signings. This approach, and specifically referencing they were looking to avoid a Keighley situation, was openly discussed by the board. Only time will tell of course. Looking forward to it.

Fair statement. I think we (Doncaster) took the approach of knowing most of our squad were proven in the Championship. The halves, centres, hooker and most of the forwards. Half a dozen quality signings and a competent championship squad for last season. A similar approach to this season and I'm pretty confident. Oldham have done the same with one exception. They've done in 2 seasons what we did in 3. I'm pretty sure they'll be mid-table/fringe playoffs which should be enough. Looking forward to our game. It'll be very competitive.

Giants backline starting to look a bit tasty, with Gagai at Full Back & Milne in the Centres

Milne is can be a massive liability. I’m sure some hudds fans think they’ve got Dane gagai not his brother who’s played 9 NRL games

If they finish any higher than 10th I'll be very surprised.

Which are you referring to?

Hi Charlie was it the Adamson's? Matt was a high profile player but for some reason Phil was sighed by Saints which at the time was said to have been a mistake? Both played at Penrith, Phil only played 3 games at Saints, a couple of years later Matt signed for Leeds and did a couple of seasons, Surely saints fans could help out here.

A "few" years ago was underplaying it a bit ...
