I have seen the term 'Overseas investment group', or similar, used to describe all manner of people taking over clubs. Sounds good but the reality can be quite different. 4
The Masked Poster Posted January 22 Posted January 22 I'm not sure that statement comes across as anything more than a bid to buy a bit of time. 'hopefully' 'maybe' 'probably'. Not convinced. 2
Exiled Wiganer Posted January 22 Posted January 22 2 hours ago, M j M said: Yes but it's still rented by the Wigan company and, for the purposes of what we're looking at here (which is historical data anyway) the employment costs of maintaining and running it won't be born by Wigan. They are all the same group. It’s all Danson’s money/assets. How he chooses to charge/recharge things is up to him, and I am sure he will organise his affairs efficiently. So, I suspect the financial picture is not quite as straight forward as “Wigan leases”. It’s a detail point, I agree with the main thrust of your analysis.

Did they get an email asking if they would kindly deposit $12,000,000 from a Nigerian bank account? 5

I think their finance score was 2.15 , so half of that is 1.075 . That would move them to 12.895 and behind Toulouse . It also puts them within touching distance of London , York and Bradford (presuming these teams all continue to improve) and in real danger of losing their SL spot if this were to happen , with a further 0.35 points up for grabs for the Championship Teams as well in 2025 . 1

You miss the principle. A club on 5 points experiencing exactly the same financial episode would lose 2.5 points. It hits them harder for the same situation. Hopefully it will never be tested.

Whilst I see your point , it is highly unlikely that any team will be on 4.5 (max finance score not 5) in this scenario , otherwise they wouldn't be in financial trouble in the first place . A score in the range of 2-2.5 points would probably be the norm in this case . 1

I think the idea of a points system/penalties is to try and keep them on the straight and narrow in the first place. 2
