  1. Speaking as a Fev fan, I'm very disappointed. Thought he was the best coach Cas have had in years.

  2. This is the first comment from a Fev fan I've ever seen including the word "wesh" without including the phrase "I've never had a..." Bravo sir

  3. I've just read elsewhere on the internet that Westerman has been appointed as the in to rim coach.

  4. Odd timing though this, aren't Cas on telly this weekend? Radford normally prefers to be sacked on the pitch on telly after the match. Well that's what my mate Adam told me anyway

  5. He played the Westerman incident very poorly I thought.... Not saying that is why he is going but it's an indicator he isn't thinking the way a professional leader should think

  6. Strange timing after only 3 games and smacks of panic mode. Cas would have been better off doing this 6 months ago if they had doubts.

  7. Are you kidding me? The Warriors got 12k for a trial game in Christchurch the other week. Then you’ve got the value of the Sky TV deal and the production line which requires another NZ outlet, as the Warriors cannot keep all promising players. Plus with union on the decline there, it’s such an untapped market.

  8. Cas win the game v Saints and he is heralded, anyone who watched the Saints game cannot apportion the loss to Mr Radford, you could say his coaching methods worked in that his team made clear cut chances but bad execution and recieving of the final pass which are basic elements of the game cost Cas that game.

  9. Obviously his handling of the Westerman situation, letting one of his team go on a 14 hour bender during pre season and not dealing with it?

  10. Thought we were fairly ordinary tonight. Northern battled hard but were never in danger of winning. Another one ticked off the list Flanagan is still a sh1thouse. Onwards and upwards.

  11. It wasn't missed it was seen, discussed by the officials and deemed not to be a shoulder charge.

  12. No issue with the Saints bans. Appears the records of Sironen and Matautia go before them and Hurrell was always going to get 2-4, wasn’t he? Walters fined retrospectively for a shoulder charge rankles a little, as it was missed during the game.

  15. We deserved to lose. We deviated from the script which tied up the last two games. Peters needs to shake off the small club / victim mentality of a lot of our fans.

  16. The Bulls look a lot fitter than they did last year, apart from Patton. Fev did what they needed to do, it's a log season.

  17. Fev are well aware of the issues regarding their floodlights and have made statements about them at different times. They probably play about twice a year at the moment and are well aware they will need to upgrade them if they got into SL. That seems a fair way off mind you, no more than a workmanlike performance tonight and really lacking in composure in the second half. Fair play to Bradford who battled throughout and never made it easy but Sean Long will know Fev need to be better than this.

  19. When the video ref had more input loads of people whinged, in fact the complaints were enough for the RFL to decide less is best and stopped it.

  20. If anyone wants a laugh, tune in to Mick Gledhill's commentary - there wasn't enough room for him on the press gantry because of via-play and Fev's own commentary people. He's stood at the back of a stand amongst Rovers' fans struggling to be heard and complaining that they'll have to improve the press facilities if they go up!

  22. Enjoyed the game. It was a really pleasing performance and just the sort of exciting rugby that we have been waiting for. Thought Paga in particular, gave an outstanding individual performance. Such a shame that there aren't more games this season, to be able to maintain some momentum for players and fans alike.

  23. I'd like to nominate Brian McDermot for the job. Was excellent at Featherstone last year. He deserves a step back into the big time.

  24. You would be shocked if you knew how little Toulouse have spent. If they had money, then they wouldn't have started the season with 19 players and expecting the Elites to step up.

  25. Sydney’s population is predicted to be well over 8 million by 2050. Culling teams would play straight in to competitor sports hands.

  26. If this ends up falling through and Sale become the top dog there, it is not the fault of "RL" or "us", it is completely down to Salford and their actions (or lack of) As a club I cannot stand Sale, they are a crappy cuckoo club and even by RU standards I dislike them intensely. But their job is to look after Sale RU and nobody else, which it would seem they are doing. Wailing about RU and conspiracy theories will keep RL exactly where it is - in a bitter perpetual victim mindset. Many people like RU (for some reason) and if RL is that much better, it's up to convince the public to get on board because nobody else is going to do it for it. Salford do have seemed to upped their game lately so hopefully this won't come to pass.

  27. Surprised at this, he was great at Hull FC, I was devastated when he left. Him and Andy Last are the dream team.

  28. Opening for Danny Ward to get back in the game? Given the timing, I'm in the 'more to it than the results' camp.

  29. Please let us know, when t'wesh is out to dry?

  30. Not actually true though as there was plenty of RL played in other leagues than the SL, and reading the reports there were some absolute crackers with some excellent crowds.

  31. Midlands can play better than that but we usually get given the opportunity by the opposition. You just weren't making mistakes nor leaving gaps for us to exploit. We have only played Cornwall and Hull Dockers before so perhaps missed the benefit of being properly tested before facing you. Thanks for the friendly welcome for supporters though you could have opened the Bailey Bar half an hour earlier as there was a bit of a queue to get in!

  33. Apparently the NZ Sky TV deal is $160m over 5 years (23 to 27). It is reported that the NRL secured a significant increase from Sky TV up from $94m the previous 5 year deal (18 to 22). No idea what it would be with another NZ team.

  35. You had an opportunity to kick a simple penalty earlier. Guess what, you still lost. if you’re playing that game you should have had 3 players red carded according to the MRP. Some Saints fan’s reaction to this game has been absolutely hilarious

  36. From what I’ve seen on twitter seems like going get a very decent crowd for it hopefully we are all rewarded with a great game of rugby. never been a happy hunting ground for us think we have won once since we first dropped to championship and that was in the first season far as I recall we’ve lost all the rest.

  37. Totally unfair on the Cas fans. Haven't even had chance to chant 'Radford Out'.

  38. Agreed, fans of the discarded clubs would just walk away, they wouldn’t start supporting other NRL teams.

  39. So a season ticket holder couldn't buy a £15 ticket and sell it to somebody who normally pays on the day for, say, £17?
    2 points
  40. Yep, has to be. The TV rights would already pay the NRL's side of it. Add in a ready made rivalry and one of the best player factories in the world. The only thing Perth really offers is the possibility of larger sponsorships. The timezone doesn't even really offer that much.

  41. No, this western corridor malarkey seems like over-the-top AFL-scare stuff imo. We don't need to saturate the Brisbane suburbs like Sydney. A second team filling Lang Park on alternate weeks was a great commercial move but I don't see the benefit for any more teams in South Queensland in a modern-day world when people are more able to take a trip into town or watch on TV, or go watch their local lower-grade club if they are so Rugby League mad that two BNE teams ain't enough. The only additional QLD club should be the Falcons in a redeveloped Sunshine Coast Stadium which has been mooted in a potential bid. It's the next biggest QLD urban centre without a current first-grade team, but it isn't the priority. The next team has to be Perth. And then after that it's a step by step basis to see how it goes in the long term. Personally, my dream league of what I would work towards purely out in my own deep dark desires is 1 team in every 300k+ urban centre in Oceania (plus Townsville and minus Honolulu), and multiple teams in the biggest 3 of them to equal: 1 PNG, 2 NZ, 5 QLD (2 BNE), 7 NSW (2 SYD, 2 GWS), 1 ACT, 2 VIC, 1 SA, 1 WA: 1. Papua New Guinea Hunters (PNG Football Stadium, Port Moresby, PNG) 2. Auckland Aotearoa Warriors (Mount Smart Stadium, Auckland, NZ) 3. Christchurch Canterbury Bulldogs (Rugby League Park, Christchurch, NZ) 4. North Queensland Cowboys (North Queensland Stadium, Townsville, QLD) 5. Sunshine Coast Falcons (Sunshine Coast Stadium [redeveloped], Kawana Waters, QLD) 6. Brisbane Broncos (Lang Park, Brisbane, QLD) 7. BNE Dolphins (Lang Park, Brisbane, QLD) 8. Gold Coast Titans (Robina Stadium, Gold Coast, QLD) 9. Newcastle Knights (Newcastle International Sports Centre, Newcastle, NSW) 10. Central Coast Sea Eagles (Central Coast Stadium, Gosford, NSW) 11. Sydney Roosters (Sydney Football Stadium, Sydney, NSW) 12. South Sydney Rabbitohs (Sydney Football Stadium, Sydney, NSW) 13. Parramatta Eels (Western Sydney Stadium, Greater Western Sydney, NSW) 14. Penrith Panthers (New Penrith Stadium, Greater Western Sydney, NSW) 15. Illawarra Steelers (Wollongong Showground, Wollongong, NSW) 16. Canberra Raiders (Canberra Stadium, Bruce, ACT) 17. Melbourne Storm (Melbourne Rectangular Stadium, Melbourne, VIC) 18. Melbourne Thunder (Melbourne Rectangular Stadium, Melbourne, VIC) 19. Adelaide Rams (Hindmarsh Stadium, Adelaide, SA) 20. Perth Pirates (Perth Oval, Perth, WA)

  43. Miles off the mark. Oldham were very good for majority of the game and scored plenty points 20+ more that hairnets. Paga Wilkinson and Ah Van were especially good. Plenty to work on but a very positive start to the season. Well done Oldham and mr littler. remember we lost to skolars last season

  44. Perth is the most logical, it has an (albeit small) existing League base, stadium and audience are ready, and importantly opens the door to a whole new, massive corporate market. Plus stretches the time zone for TV spots, if that’s of any interest to the networks. But mainly it’s needed strategically, to kill the “not national” hoodoo once and for all and remove that one remaining competitive edge from the AFL. Certainly Brisbane 3 and NZ 2 after that though, not sure what order.

  45. We are also making significant progress in the pacific islands and eventually i can see a 22 team league to compete with any sports league on earth

  46. Most of this is a figment of your imagination Catalans now have the 2nd biggest revenues in the league, and are largely self-sustaining rather than reliant on Bernard's money. He's really not that wealthy either, certainly not in the Leneghan or Hudgell mould, let alone Ken Davy. It is perfectly possible for a 2nd French club to achieve the same result, if allowed to follow the same plan. You look at a demonstrably successful model and say "we can't possibly do that again", rather than the more obvious "that worked, where can we replicate that?" It's a surreal approach, and not a way I'd ever try to build any other business.

  47. Problem is, its a community stadium and sale vultures dont in any way represent Salford. The Red devils are building nicely as the much over hyped sharks flash their regional branding to the dismay of local people The Sharks have tried before to colonise other sports grounds and salford need to be extremely cautious about deals with them
