Thats come from a really bad non obstruction call. Players really need to stop engaging with players who are "giving themselves up" after an obstruction where the ball carrier is allowed to drop to the ground. Simply do not make the tackle.

They were never going to find anything to overturn that, it was obvious from the first viewing.

That does seem another example of the VR more or less making things up.

Kendall was put on in odd position there. Smith sent it up as a try but asked 'please confirm some part of the ball was grounded', which to be fair no angle actually showed.

Think you have to give that as benefit of the doubt to the attacking player (and sent up as a try).

I don’t blame the ref or VR , the protocols need changing . On field ref doesn’t know just let the VR use the tech he has to decide

The video ref said it could be down, or it could be up. Always a hand under it. Bad call IMO.

Bring back the voluntary tackle . Looks terrible all that

Bad call. If the on field ref didn't clearly see the ball grounded, it should have gone up no try, and then there would have been no compelling evidence of a try.

KR still well worth the lead though.

Mark this in your diary, I agree with you.

There was more than enough evidence to overturn. The motion of the players and the ball, and the fact the attacker was still physically looking to get the ball down, combined with the absence of any evidence of the ball being grounded, mean it should have gone back as no try.

If you can't overturn there, then you can't ever overturn.
