Bit of a silly one that probably should've been reserved for off-season, but seen as some of the current topics are a bit depressing, let's give it a go.

Every now and again I, and I know many others, have a quick glance at other posters profiles. I'm often really surprised how long some have been registered!

So it got me thinking - who's been here the longest? Oldest I've seen is a poster (who I won't name in case this isn't for them) who registered way back in 2003! Now i've no idea if TRL and it's forum have ever done any kind of migration, which may cap how old some profiles appear, but still interested to know. It may satisfy one of my other curiosities of understanding posters who've maybe gone away and come back under different aliases as well - this isn't to sniff you out btw!

I think I registered in 2003 but I also think that’s the earliest possible as the forum was updated then so even people who’d been around before then won’t show as being earlier. So I think I may date to 2000-2001.

Yeah I figured that may be the case. 25 years Jon! That's crazy - and in that time, what theme/thread has come up most often you reckon and why is the answer attendances?

November 2003 for me too, didn't we all have to pay a tenner to get in as well?

Was you actually 2003 then Gav or similar to GJ and maybe on before that? This tenner is news to me 😆 but i've only been on these boards coming up for 10 years. I actually set up my account for my dad originally using my email, too technical for him he reckoned, because he liked to keep up with all the amateur RL news (being a coach at Hunslet old boys) but that part of the forum faded away sadly.

Yes, there was a previous incarnation of the forum in the late Nineties.

I joined both TRL & RLFANS late 2002 when York reset themselves as the City Knights and I wanted to keep up to date with rumours of new signings and news.

I was in Year 10 at secondary school at the time, so had plenty of free time 😅

How long do you reckon that means you've been on here then mate? 26/27 years? You could be winning*!

Yeah sure, I know that can be done but also finding people have been on a lot longer than that date might suggest, most likely die to some kind of database migration. Does April 2004 sound right for you or possibly longer?

Futtocks pre dates me by a bit. Shadow does too. RP London does as well, I think. There are a handful of others - some irregular posters who you think have gone turn back up out of the blue.

I do miss Rhubarbtriangulist.

Feb 03 for me, used to be a really good board but unfortunately social media seems to have taken over

Was a fiver! But it was free for several years prior to that.

I think a few oldies are still here but it was more fun with L'Angelo, Cas Vegas, Rhubarb and that dude who kept posting Kevin Pietersen in a yellow jacket. Am sure Matt Santos was about in a former incarnation.

Yeah I can imagine that had a big impact from the late 00's onwards. As well as here, the only other forum I go on is SkyScraperCity (construction/developments nerdy stuff) and that too used to have a lot more posters in the early 00s than it does today. I will say, forums are still a miles better place for actual discourse than any social media platform could ever be.

Yeah I mean as I say, i've only been on here about 9 and a bit years and even in that time, go relatively long periods where i'm just not bothered to post but i'm always reading. Hopefully some of them do the same. In more recent years I always enjoyed a lot of Dunbar's posts - still hopeful they'll return one day.

Just had a look at a day from 2001 on one of those internet time machine things - I was here then but didn't post very much. The more prominent posters were people like Frank Machin (later L'angelo Mysterioso), Ed I Tackle (who I think is Padge now ?), League Freak, Chairman M, Millward Is A Gurner, Guess Who, Daza XIII.....

Some are older than that but the forum had a reboot. Think I may have been 2002. I stopped in the paying days and at other times on and off.

Yes - Padge is Ed I (and vice versa).

Still hear from L’angelo from time to time, and Chairman is a Facebook friend.

Yeah I think yours was one of the profiles i'd had a look when thinking about all this, as I assumed you'd been on here a long time.

@Dave T surprised me as I assumed he was a day dotter as well - but just the 18 years for him 😅 he may yet have the record for the most posts though!

I refused to pay the £10 so reverted just to rlfans for a while but was on here before then.

Also on rec.sport.rugby.league, albeit mostly lurking, from its original breakaway from rec.sport.rugby in 1995 onwards until it petered out. And John Drake's RLSA website and its original Virtual Terrace, essentially a bulletin board sort of thing, until it got absorbed into rlfans. But mostly I was on rlfans which I joined when it opened in 1999.

Ive been here since 2003 easy. But ive just rebranded and not been on much recently as I deleted my account in a censorship rage a few months ago.

Bonus points if you can work out who I was.

I'd forgotten Daza XIII and Millward is a Gurner...

I go back to somewhere around 2001 I think... Mind goes when you get older 🤣 many jobs/companies have tried to stop me posting but I've found a way 🧐

I've not been here very long. I only came to the game in 2014 and probably only found the site some time around 2019. I stayed a lurker until my disappointment with England at the WC prompted me to speak up. And the rest as they say...
