What struck me was "with immediate effect". That is usually shorthand for "been sacked" not decided to leave.

More to this than is immediately obvious I reckon.

Sport, amongst other things, is a dream-world offering escape from harsh reality and the disturbing prospect of change.

I can't see where it says immediate effect.

I think the League Express / Serious About RL articles said 'immediately'/'effective immediately' but not the official announcement.

I can confirm 30+ less sales for Scotland vs Italy at Workington, after this afternoons test purchase for the Tonga match, £7.50 is extremely reasonable, however a £2.50 'delivery' fee for a walk in purchase is beyond taking the mickey, good luck with that, it's cheaper on the telly.

The margin meter was like what xG is in football now. Yeah its a bit niche and the science behind it is constantly being refined, but its interesting to many and is used across the board now...

Clarke owns the company that develops the software to do the analysis. Sky has been a great platform for his company to develop their ideas.

The fact that so many other sports pick up on this shows how forward thinking he and his team are.

As usual RL supporters dismiss it all as a waste of time.

This dodgy publication is where I got it from: Phil Clarke to leave Sky Sports immediately – Total Rugby League (totalrl.com)

We were also treated recently to the SHOCKING REVELATION that Warrington is in West Yorkshire.

Did you see that one?

Immediately is probably because his contract is up, Not renewed for the 2024 season.

It is time for a change, look at Channel 4 and the younger players they have had on.

Sky will need a larger roster.

6 games a week to cover.

Main comms- Wilson, Pyke, Fraser Dainton, Arthur would mean 2 games a week after you factor in holiday and other commitments.

Ben Proe, Dave Woods, Matt Newsum, George Riley or Craig Murdoch options?

Any local radio comms or national radio I'm missing?

Co-comms: Barry, Terry, Wilkin, Wells, Cunningham, Amor, Kevin brown, John kear all options?

Don't rule out Tomkins.

Regardless of travel there's  a lot of games in France to be covered

The guy was very passionate about the game and often tried to think outside the box. However, sometimes there was a reason it was outside the box and he just couldn't get it to translate into practicality! Try tracker: good idea, poorly executed. Momentum meter side sounded better in his head. And the random stats could have done with being more consistently relevant!

Good luck to what he does in the future.

I thought about his analytics business when I saw this thread - I'd imagine he's had a role in a lot of positive sports developments that people don't know about. Hope he enjoys the next chapter of life whatever he's doing.

Haven't heard Proe's name for a while! Don't think Riley will ever get another mainstream job.

Please not Amor, there's always RedVee.net where his views can be expressed.

An early Christmas gift to us all i think.

Talks rubbish just for the sake of it just to try and stay relevant.

Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Baz and Tez along with JJB next please.

I'm with the crowd on McDermott and O'Connor, they need to go. They embarrass us all.

What I find odd is that only ragingbull has mentioned Jones Buchanan. He can't even speak, never mind speak nonsense. I have to leave the room when he comes on, it's like he's got someone else's teeth in.

I've no idea how he got the gig in the first place, but he can't possibly continue if the sport is having a bit of a clear out.

One obvious prerequisite is speak clearly, isn't it?

I quite like Proe, although his tendency to go on about birthdays and ages is a bit odd.

What has Riley done?

Yeah, I just had a look at his Wikipedia, after the confused emoji from @fighting irish.

Not good allegations; I'm kind of neutral towards him as a commentator, but he's far from the worst.
