Think we will look back on Robys career and wish we appreciated him more when he was playing, one of the most professional players I've ever watched.

Lewis Dodd has become a top quality half back, he looks like a man now as opposed to the lad he was when he got his injury. He’s been outstanding in that WCC match where his generalship with ball in hand and astute kicking game have been a major factor in the win. That Golden Point match winning Drop Goal in such a major game will see him grow even more just as Welsby’s Grand Final winning try helped him settle and kick on

Club before country again?

Roby is 37 he needs an off season Walmsley had two operations on different parts of his body. Lomax played most of the season with a torn bicep and Percival wasnt fit for most of the season.

Remember it well - a fantastic game and quite some adversity with Graeme West temporarily in charge, Skerrett & Platt out injured and so on. But it was pre superleague.

Super League is just Rugby League believe it or not. Changing the name of the premier competition does not a new game make. 🙄

Now if IMG and RFL cant market that over next year they want clipping round the ear. All I want to hear for rest of year on C4 , Sky Sports is World Champions, best team in world. It should be absolutely everywhere. I also want a proper documentary made on it at some point.

I want to hear it on BBC National Sports News. That's where the uncommitted need education.

Unequivocally a great win for Saints, for the NH, for SL, for our sport . Saints professional approach in spending three weeks acclimatising, plus a warm up game is a lesson for everyone.

That is indeed a professional approach. Do you think any other clubs could manage/afford to do that if in a similar situation?

I might be getting mixed up but my recollection of British teams going out there was "fly out, play game a couple of days later, fly home"

When you think of all the time and experience Sky Sports have had to provide great coverage of our game, for Channel 4 to come along with a far superior product speaks volumes.

I think the word is complacency as far as Sky are concerned, they will either step up or step out with a ridiculous offer for the next contract.

Saints hassled and harried Penrith and kept coming for 80 minutes. I thought their line-speed and tackle control kept Penrith from getting right on top and allowed them to steady the ship in some of the rougher moments.

It was a marvellous example of team togetherness and team cohesiveness. I think their resolve and determination had the effect of spooking some of the younger Penrith backs. Luai's head didn't seem fully in the game and Cleary kept bombing away, which Percival dealt with admirably.

I'm really happy to see the team who travelled down and treated the game as the zenith of club football have stuck solid and come away with a richly-deserved victory. Seeing Roby getting the trophy is a special moment in a legendary career.

It'll be interesting to see how Aussie RL media report on the game.

The C4 coverage ended with an IMG symbol. Has that always been there, or is this a new thing? C4 is a natural home for our game.

IMG produce Channel 4's coverage and did last season as well.

TBF I don't think he is underappreciated, he's an absolutely phenomenal player and I've never heard a RL fan say a bad word about him. Along with players like Walmsley & Makinson, there isn't a SL fan that wouldn't have them in their team every week. Greats of the modern era undoubtedly.

Wellens should quit right now, before a loss ruins his 100% coaching record. :kolobok_wink:

Don't agree. It was clear obstruction at the drop goal, and the pass certainly looked forward live. Would've been plenty moaning if it had been the other way.

If that pass was forward you can cancel half the tries scored in the NRL this year.

Sorry, to add context I think that was me asking where that performance ranked in the all time greats, as in my 15 years watching it is the best.

JonM then advised there were only 2 NH clubs who went to Australia and won so it is probably the best this millennium, I don’t think it was meant to disparage the Wigan performance.

Should have saved the question for a separate, specialist thread, apologies!!

Exactly. And yes, they should be able to afford it.

I agree. Looked absolutely fine to me.

Brilliant punditry too, saying Saints thought it was OK, so it must have been 🙈

As they always do when extra time is played with another match about to start, Fox League keep the post-match footage until HT in the next game. Not a conspiracy or sour grapes.

Apologies, I was asking if that’s what the poster was suggesting, I should’ve made it a bit clearer I suppose.
