Sports Prophet
13 hours ago, Damien said: I think the decision to scrap the 2nd Easter game has been fully vindicated. They really did offer nothing and were poorly attended. Having top quality games spread out over 4 days with great crowds and each game on TV has been great. It was always going to be the right decision. That it took to 2023 for it to be tested is the great tragedy. I am pleased though that it has been a successful weekend. For the season the SL has been so far, it would have been even more concerning had the fans not turned out. Hopefully the clubs can sustain the handy crowd numbers now daylight saving has arrived and the summer months are near.
RayCee
I put this chart together to show how the 8 rounds of 2023 compare with the full 2022 season. That's the "Avg (full year)" entry. The straight "Avg" entry is comparing 8 rounds of '22 with '21. The Two Leigh entries are compared with Toulouse (top one) and the lower one comparing their Championship attendance last year. For more detail, just click the link below the post. Some nice increases there. Teams 2023 2022 % 1 Leigh 7,829 4,970 57.5% 2 Hull FC 14,638 10,771 35.9% 3 Warrington 10,892 8,853 23.0% 4 Wigan 14,881 12,279 21.2% 5 Salford 5,029 4,530 11.0% 6 Hull KR 8,619 7,789 10.7% 7 Huddersfield 5,567 5,145 8.2% 8 Castleford 8,102 7,543 7.4% 9 Leeds 13,853 12,941 7.0% 10 Catalans 8,274 8,069 2.5% 11 St Helens 11,934 11,856 0.7% 12 Wakefield 4,312 4,615 -6.6% Avg (full Yr) 9,592 8,347 14.9% Avg 9,592 8,802 9.0% Leigh 7,829 3,018 159.4% 10 My blog: https://rugbyl.blogspot.co.nz/ It takes wisdom to know when a discussion has run its course. IIRC, 10% of unreserved areas needs to be left empty. That's usually about 2k. Then with 2 blocks sectioned off, that's enough to bring capacity down considerably. bamfordsbeans
Halifax Towns average will have been boosted by the visit of Wrexham and a crowd of nearly 8,000. For the average league match with no large visiting support, the Panthers have been getting slightly more than Town which hasn't been the case in recent seasons. 2

Watching it online it looked a lot emptier than the photo. I'd guess the tv camera was pointing at the opposite stand. If you'd have said 3,000 were there I'd have been surprised based on the broadcast.
langpark
Was it a double-header with Carcassone? I think Carcassonne fans occupied one stand (for their earlier match) and Albi fans took the other, for their later match. I don't think many stuck around / showed up early for the match their team wasn't playing in.

Just Browny
Less than 1000 tickets in the home stands left for Warrington v Wigan on Friday. Should be close to a sellout. 8 I can confirm 30+ less sales for Scotland vs Italy at Workington, after this afternoons test purchase for the Tonga match, £7.50 is extremely reasonable, however a £2.50 'delivery' fee for a walk in purchase is beyond taking the mickey, good luck with that, it's cheaper on the telly. This year they’re 8.1k and 10k.
