Tough one to call. Hunslet are on form with a great run of wins whereas Swinton have had a poor end to their season with a lot of losses. In theory Swinton should win but as I said a touch call.

Also rumours abound regarding Swinton being weakened by players being on holiday. If true that will make it tough also.

Head says Swinton, but momentum is an underrated attribute and I have a sneaking suspicion Hunslet may pull this off.

I've always been against these play-offs, given the financial disparity between the funding available in the two divisions, but I'd be OK with Hunslet proving me wrong.

"I am the avenging angel; I come with wings unfurled, I come with claws extended from halfway round the world. I am the God Almighty, I am the howling wind. I care not for your family; I care not for your kin. I come in search of terror, though terror is my own; I come in search of vengeance for crimes and crimes unknown. I care not for your children, I care not for your wives, I care not for your country, I care not for your lives." - (c) Jim Boyes - "The Avenging Angel"

We won 2 out of our last 4 including beating Featherstone, dont think anyone expected us to win at Bradford so not that poor an end to the season.

Apologies I missed that. I hope Swinton win for another couple of derbies next season

Are Swinton allowed dual reg?

I think both teams can use Dual Reg, as long as the players involved played enough games in regular season. Saints may well have sent their players on leave given their season was over 2 weeks ago.

Dual Reg should be scrapped forever.

It has the potential to totally ruin a game.

I've seen Swinton a few times this season - and they were really good. In any other year, 3rd bottom would have been a good outcome and a decent platform to build on.

You'd have to think that man for man, Swinton would win this one by a dozen points - but never underestimate a team with momentum. Some genuine jeopardy here...

There just feels something inevitable about this Hunslet surge.

With Swinton, for me it's down to what they can put out on the pitch on Sunday - if it's the coach's team of choice, they'll win; if there are a few missing due to holidays or whatever, it's twitchy sphincter time and it could go very wrong.

Surely players won't have booked holidays when they know what the season entails.

Think it was announced on the 13th March this year but some had already booked and paid for holidays by then

You'd have thought that, once the prospect of a possible playoff came into the equation, contingencies would have been put in place and dates rearranged where possible.

If it's just one or two players, jetting off off to Spain for a couple of weeks, it's not too difficult to imagine breaking off from the holiday for a couple of days and coming back to Blighty via Easyjet to play the game, then flying back again.

But, this is second tier RL and Fan Forums we're talking about and you can also imagine that:

1. Possible scenario not thought through properly and half the first team will be missing on Sunday

2. Actually it's just a couple of out-of-contract squad players who wouldn't have been in the mix anyway

Many players will probably want to play in the match if there is an extra winning bonus on offer for keeping a club in the Champioship. Money talks.

Why the RL needed to complicate things is anyone's guess. One up, two down for two seasons obviously too easy for them.

Swinton by 16.

Comfortable Swinton Win

Must be a bit out of touch here, but why havnt Hunslet replaced Whitehaven ?

We're moving to 12 teams in each division over a couple of years - it means one less team in Championship/one more in L1 next season so there is a play-off to see if it will be 3 teams going down or 2 going up.

Feel sorry for Hunslet if that’s the case. It’s a bit like the Women then but saying that, the Leopards beat Fev.

I do honestly feel the gulf is too big but you never know.
