Loiner Posted June 2, 2024 Posted June 2, 2024 Rest in peace Rob, my heart is broken today. Condolences to your family and friends. 1 1
up the robins Posted June 2, 2024 Posted June 2, 2024 One of life's most inspirational ppl both on and off the pitch. RIP ROB 1
Futtocks Posted June 2, 2024 Posted June 2, 2024 A player who did things to my club's (and every other's) defence that would have been unforgiveable if he wasn't so damn likeable. 7 Let me never fall into the vulgar mistake of dreaming that I am persecuted whenever I am contradicted. Ralph Waldo Emerson
northamptoncougar Posted June 2, 2024 Posted June 2, 2024 Absolute Titan - given 2 years and went 5, a pure stubborn Yorkshireman. I think Roby only comes close to being a player that everyone liked, it’s so rare. What he did on the pitch will be remembered for years, what he did off the pitch will live on for infamy. 3 1
gogledd Posted June 2, 2024 Posted June 2, 2024 R.I.P Rob Rob inspired me to raise some funds from MNDA last year, by cycling to a few North Wales Crusaders games at different grounds (Thatto Heath, Rochdale Hornets, Midlands Hurricanes and Cornwall). It was an incredible honour to be invited by MNDA to Headingley to take part in a reception with the Princess Royal. I met Rob and his family at the reception and it was evident how much he was loved and how much he inspired all the people that were at the reception. My thoughts with his family and friends. 15
Leyther_Matt Posted June 2, 2024 Posted June 2, 2024 Life can be so cruel, but the courage shown by the entire Burrow family has been a true inspiration. RIP Rob 2
gingerjon Posted June 2, 2024 Posted June 2, 2024 Social media gets a deserved bad rap but I can't remember a straightforward outpouring like this. It's like everyone in the UK, most with no connection to rugby league, are reacting right now. That reflects the humility, love, strength, heart and sincerity that Rob, and his family and friends, always showed. 7 Build a man a fire, and he'll be warm for a day. Set a man on fire, and he'll be warm for the rest of his life. (Terry Pratchett)
StandOffHalf Posted June 2, 2024 Posted June 2, 2024 (edited) His smile after he deteriorated and lost his voice gave me hope for humanity. RIP to a fella who will inspire beyond the field long into the future. Awesome player as well. Thank you for your grace and light in such tortured moments, Rob. You and your family are a shining credit to Leeds, Yorkshire, England, and Rugby League. Edited June 2, 2024 by StandOffHalf 1

N2022 Posted June 2, 2024 Posted June 2, 2024 A legend. A favourite of the fans whose life took on even greater purpose in recent years. Thoughts and prayers with his family and friends. 2
Coggo Posted June 2, 2024 Posted June 2, 2024 Rob Burrow encapsulated everything that is great about rugby league. Skill, flair, tenacity, camaraderie, humility and heart. Rest in peace. 1
Bradford Northern Forever Posted June 2, 2024 Posted June 2, 2024 A true star and will be sadly missed. RIP Rob 1
OriginalMrC Posted June 2, 2024 Posted June 2, 2024 So so sad. Even though we knew it was going to happen it still hits hard. I remember him twice bringing the Leeds Academy down to play Coventry Bears and he was such a genuine bloke. A true inspiration. 2
north yorks trinity Posted June 2, 2024 Posted June 2, 2024 My thoughts are especially with Lindsey and their three children who have lost their hero today. Rob, they will always be proud of you and you'll remain a hero to them and many others. R.I.P. 3

Irish Saint Posted June 2, 2024 Posted June 2, 2024 Rest in Peace Rob. You broke this Saints heart on many an occasion but I never shed a tear until tonight. 8 Poverty exists not because we cannot feed the poor but because we cannot satisfy the rich.
MZH Posted June 2, 2024 Posted June 2, 2024 He had the heart of a lion, both during his career and during his illness. An inspiration to so many. We all knew the day would come eventually, but it doesn't make it any less sad. Condolences to the family. 1
tiffers Posted June 2, 2024 Posted June 2, 2024 (edited) Cam Smith being interviewed live on Sky sports at the mo. Sounds like the team have been at headingley showing their support. Edited June 2, 2024 by tiffers
up the robins Posted June 2, 2024 Posted June 2, 2024 I think it would be fitting if there was a collection at the next home match of each team in memory of Rob. The more money raised to help find a cure for this awful disease the better. 1
daz39 Posted June 2, 2024 Posted June 2, 2024 (edited) It is awfully sad but in a really weird way i'm almost glad that it has finally come, he no longer has to suffer this absolutely horrendous illness, trapped inside his failing body and his family and children no longer have to watch him suffer. Everyone associated with Rob should revel in his successes and be damn proud of his everlasting legacy that he and his good mate Kev have undoubtedly left not just on this sport but the battle against MND too. An absolute nightmare to watch against your team but a hell of a player none the less, he became even more of a legend to most RL fans in the last 5 years.
