  1. Can't see Daniel Smith getting fired up for anything from what I've seen.

  2. He's adopted the tried-and-trusted, patented Stu Dickens method of trying a year at Salford just to confirm that Fev's the best place to be.

  3. Connor Jones 100th game for Fev, as has been widely reported all over the internet (my Facebook and my Xitter accounts).

  4. I will explain why I am replying on this thread to you. As I have said on this thread, I am happy to comment on any panel decision and, of course, for others to do the same. But if you search through the pages of this site, you will see time and again posts from you criticising the disciplinary panel and suggesting it is not fit for purpose and yet when it clears a Leigh player of foul play you start a new thread stating that the panel has completely vindicated the player. It’s like a politician branding a newspaper fake news over and over and then quoting an article when it says something nice about them, I just find the whole hypocrisy of it laughable.

  6. You see, this is what I want to know. Dupree has been cleared of foul play by the disciplinary and yet you say that Dupree's action has been scorned upon and been against the rules for a very very long time. Yet, when a Leigh player is cleared of foul play, you say he has been fully vindicated. It couldn't just be as simple as the team they play for could it?

  7. He said 3 or 4 before these 2 were announced but they're assessing the severity of our injuries before committing to any more. A prop in the Tyler Dickinson , Jamie Acton mould is top of my list.

  8. Going to be a tough game and I'm seeing this a must win for the knights and especially Hendo who is going to be subject to a lot of criticism if we get beat at the weekend.Certainly glad to have Jordon Thompson back in the team who will give us that much needed go forward which we have been lacking in the first 2 championship games.

  10. There is a fair argument that football has a simpler and less subjective system. We dish out a lot of bans for offences that are not red cards - and I'm not convinced that logic flows well for me.
    3 points
  11. Not all disagreements are a meltdown. The system itself is overcomplicated, but when you add somebody willing to look at the Cam Smith incident and decide that it is worth a ban, it makes things even worse.

  12. Just a reminder of the opening post in this thread, which is a perfectly reasonable enquiry, and most people responding are sticking to the point. Thanks. Some other people are trying very hard to drag it off topic for reasons best known to themselves. Those posts have been removed. If any more off topic comments are posted in here, those posting them will find themselves taking an enforced break from the forum. Back on topic, then...

  15. I don't think there is necessarily a need to ban alcohol, but I really do think grounds need to be set up better. On Saturday at Warrington I sat in an area that is classed as a Family Stand, or certainly has been in the past. Yet tbh it was pretty unpleasant with a bunch of loudmouths who were just drinking and effing and blinding every other word. I have no desire to take my 7 year old daughter to sit there. I do think we miss a trick somewhat on having different areas that maybe cater for different customer segments, whether that be Muslims, families, tee-totallers etc. It often gets pointed out on here the level of stick Angela Powers got for complaining about baby-changing facilities at the HJ - and I think it demonstrates that many are not interested in other people's experiences or what may work for them. I definitely think we can be better in quite a few areas.

  16. No, their point is that clubs' self-published attendance figures aren't like-for-like comparisons to each other, so they're pointless (or worse sometimes involve clubs trying to game the system). They're making the case for a different method behind the scenes, whilst not playing the game out front. Perfectly professional way of going about things.
    2 points
  17. It’s not a rugby league obsession. Read any football weekly and you will see the attendance figure for every professional men’s match in England and Scotland. Not sure KR would get away with hiding this information in that sport.

  18. All gone quiet on this front. Everyone seems to have taken "Back on topic, then..." to mean "LOCKED". Pity, because it's a subject we ought to debate. In the future interest of UK RL. Preferably without the heavy hand of censorship. The gloriously diverse composition of Canterbury Bulldogs fanbase would be inconceivable in this country. We are manifestly failing. I'll try one rhetorical question. Food for thought. - It's easy to denounce others for alleged intolerance. Costs nothing. How many self-styled "progressives" would be willing to curb their enthusiasm for alcohol if it meant creating a more welcoming RL environment for Muslims? I don't touch a drop, so wouldn't affect me.

  19. Widnes are flying high at the moment, but with no disrespect to the sides they have beaten so far they haven't yet come up against a potential title chasing side. I certainly don't count us as title chasers but so long as we apply the same effort and sprit as the Halifax and Batley games, I'm confidant we'll give them a game and might even nick it.

  24. Check out our latest discussion. Jake Kearnan and I discuss the weekend's results including whether Hull KR are contenders or pretenders, Saints' impressive win over the Premiers and the prospect of an NRL Europe competition. We also discuss the International Rugby League meeting taking place in Singapore in two weeks, the NRL's record breaking attendances and the expansion of the NRLW to 12 teams next year.

  27. I think the great thing about this is the NRLW's aggressive vision - they want to go even further than the NRL in terms of being the undisputed #1 club rugby comp. They'll continue to attract the best players in the world to play in the best environment.

  28. No sooner did I think that my latest trip down under had gone smoothly travel wise, including the bus Journey to and from Sutherland to Woolongong, then I get a 2.5 Hour delay in my QANTAS flight to the UK leaving Sydney Anyway - Round 5 Melbourne Storm v Brisbane Broncos Game of the round. If Cameron Munster gets through the captains run that and home advantage favours the Storm. though Adma Reynolds and the baby Broncos proved last week they are no pushover. -Munster Mash ? Canterbury Bulldogs v Sydney Roosters By no means a forgone conclusion between a Bulldogs side that was very unlucky nopt to get anything against Souths against a Roosters side that seems to be one game on and one game off. - Return of the plucky bantam ? Newcastle Knights v St George-Illawarra The Knights either win by a small margin or lose by a small margin and are favourites not to make the 8 this year, against an SGI side that's got it's wins against Gold Coast and an awful Manly side having been clobbered by the Dolphins and the Cows. - Knight slays Dragon? South Sydney v New Zealand Warriors Souths, just, of the mark last week against a Wahs side that appears to be returning to form. Fopr both sides, if you want to be top 8 this is a game you win. I expect huge support from expat Kiwis at Accor Stadium. Wahs to win? Manly Sea Eagles v Penrith Panthers Manly cannot play that badly again two weeks in a row can they, But they are up against the form team in the NRL in the Penny Panthers although four-peat is not a given as they are beatable in a one-off game (just ask Melbourne, Wigan and St Helens) but week in week out set the standard regardless of personnel. - Panther power at 4 pines? Dolphins v West Tigers The "Entertainers" of the NRL the Dolphins at "home" in Suncorp against a West Tigers team that was the only 100% winning side I saw. The key to this game might be the suspension to young Lachlan Galvin who is more key to the success of this Tigers side than peop[le currently realise - Phintastic? North Queensland Cowboys v Gold Cost Titans A get right game for the Cows in Townsville, their penchant for slow starts finally catching uip with them against the Bronx last week, against a Titans side where Des Haesler has thrown the entire squad under the bus having changed the way they play That never goes down well. Stampede at the Country Bank? Canberra Raidersw v Paramatta Eels Another coin flip game between two sides both of whom should have won last week and snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. It should also focus on two coaches wiyh a long tenure who appear to be living off a losing Grand Final appearance. - Ricky's Rebounding Raiders? Good luck with your tips, this season continues to maze and entertain with sides brilliant one week and c""p the next. Don't despair as in one of the tipping charts before I left a certain Andrew Johns was bottom of the tipsters so there is hope for us all...

  29. Good business by Wigan again. They know the NRL clubs are looking so this works both ways - put French on a no doubt very good long contract and/or if his head does gets turned by the NRL, they'll be paying a decent transfer fee which they've become almost expert at guaranteeing.

  30. I went in 2008 and 2017, and I was hoping to go to France for a few weeks if it happened in 2025. Really hoping there are more games in New Zealand this time, the semi final there vs Tonga was an amazing event to witness, and maybe we will have a new coach by then

  32. I love all this pointless bickering. We have a bad experience with a group of Haven fans last year/Haven had a bad experience with a group of Barrow fans this year. We beat Haven with a late drop goal last year/Haven beat us with a late drop goal this year. Things learned - none. We all move on. Long may it continue.

  33. I would go further , first 2 hours of film he assembles his crew , builds the bomb , tested and delivered , so far so turgid. The final hour of the film where he is hung out to dry is the best bit , without this I would rate it as Nolans second turkey along with Dunkirk.

  36. Sampled the North Melbourne v Carlton highlights on Good Friday. Surprising amount of royal blue and white in the 47k crowd. Was expecting virtually all Carlton fans. Perhaps North aren't as moribund as I thought. Just as well because, with the creation of the Giants and Suns, and Tas getting their own team, all relocation options have evaporated. Apart from maybe Darwin.

  39. If it's of interest, Giants recently became the first Super League club to host a community iftar. https://www.rugby-league.com/article/62605/huddersfield-giants-host-community-iftar-to-mark-ramadan#:~:text=Huddersfield Giants last night (Tuesday,Muslim holy month of Ramadan. I was invited along as chair of the HGSA but unfortunately work commitments meant I couldn't make it. We have a huge Muslim/Asian community in and around Huddersfield and across Kirklees, we recently ran an initiative led by new director Jas Atwal and Masood Ahmed, where a free bus was on hand to take anyone from the Asian community to the game against St Helens as guests of the club, the take up wasn't that great but the club are looking at trying to find ways to get into and draw support from local communities.

  40. As with every season, every fan will feel aggrieved at some point due to decisions made against one of their players, nothing we can do except get on with it and accept it.

  41. Posted this on the main board league one forum. Did anyone else do this? I was there at BP for the game, and also had it on my phone on YouTube. Because the feed was about 30 seconds behind we were able to watch the tries, penalties etc as if in replay. Also when something happened that was hidden or too far away we were able to get see it close up. Best of both worlds.

  43. Do you recall one of uncle Ralphy Rimmers parting shots before leaving his post, it was to radically reduce the number of clubs allowed to run Academies down to 10 which included Newcastle and London and that was how it was to be until 2027, so in his plan in the "heartlands" only 8 clubs could have the pick of juniors from St Helen's in the West to Hull in the East, only protests from a number of quarters got Hull KR, Castleford and Bradford reinstated, whilst other teams who wished to run their own academies were refused to do so. Did you also know that two years ago Wigan were able to take 7 lads from Leigh into their development programme whilst only taking 2 from Wigan. Totally agree with you that junior development is the future of the game, AND any club who wishes to run 'proper' organised academies should be allowed to do so, and not just the 'elite' few.

  44. Where's the money coming from to pay those though? That's the problem we have as a sport.
    1 point
  45. You don't "invest" in rugby league clubs yoni just give away lots of money. If Mark Sawyer put in another £100,000 a season, we might make the play-offs. But that's an awful lot of money to win a few more games and a bit of short term glory.

  46. It's a fair way to get 2 leagues of 12 but as always with the RFL it's complicated don't take to long to work it out though as promotion shouldn't affect the Hornets looking forward to our Easter Sunday game

  47. It's nothing to do with any of that. It's just absolutely dreadful - in my opinion, pure and simple. I don't dislike it "because it's not RL", I don't like it because it's a complete nonsense. Others may love it and good for them, that's what makes the world go around. But for me, no thanks. I'd even rather watch Union - seriously.

  48. From a revenue generating perspective the core products of the RFL are the Challenge Cup and internationals. I do absolutely agree that it is within the RFL's to grow and develop the game.
